Young people discuss their participation and impact on governance

Fórum da Juventude no Huambo
Strategic meeting aims to strengthen the role of young people in the construction of public policies and the development of human capital.

The Huambo Youth Forum will take place on 14 and 15 November 2024. Under the theme “Youth participation in local governance and its impact on human capital development”, this event will be a dynamic and essential platform to strengthen the voice of youth and encourage their participation in the construction of public policies that truly reflect their aspirations and needs.

Angolan youth represent a significant part of our population and are a powerful force for the sustainable development of the country. Therefore, we believe that the inclusion of young people in decision-making processes is vital to promote changes that benefit everyone. This Forum is an opportunity for us to discuss, analyze and propose solutions that shape a more inclusive and promising future.

During the event, we will have the participation of young leaders from different municipalities in Huambo, as well as representatives of key institutions, such as the European Union, UNICEF, and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, with the essential support of MAT, MINPLAN, and MINJUD. There will be two days of immersion in debates, interactive workshops and practical sessions, using the Youth4FORESIGHT methodology, which will allow us to identify challenges and develop recommendations that will be taken to the authorities.

Our main objective is to contribute to an open and productive dialogue, where young people can share their experiences, learn from experts and, above all, be active agents of change in their communities. We want all participants to leave this Forum with the certainty that their voice matters and that they have a fundamental role in the construction of policies that directly affect their lives and the development of our nation.

The participation of young people is key to the success of this event and to strengthening youth as protagonists in the local governance scenario.

Together, we will build a path where young people are not only heard, but are an integral part of the decisions that shape our present and future.
