PASCAL promotes training and community participation in Malanje

Training of traditional authorities and CTGOM by PASCAL in Malanje.

PASCAL’s Focal Point in Malanje, Joana de Matos, led a series of strategic meetings between 3 and 12 June, focused on empowering traditional authorities and Residents’ Councils (CTGOM), strengthening citizen participation and local governance.

Meeting with traditional authorities — June 3

The first meeting held in the municipality of Malanje brought together 44 traditional authorities, including 6 women. Chaired by the Deputy Municipal Administrator, the event highlighted the importance of articulation spaces in promoting community participation. Authorities expressed satisfaction with the topics addressed and requested more meetings to reflect on their role in the communities.

YOUTH FORUM IN CACUSO — JUNE 6

In Cacuso, Joana de Matos supported an information meeting about the Youth Forum and the collection of copies of identity cards. In conversation with Mr. Mauro, Ponto Focal offered ongoing support for future activities.

RESUMPTION OF CTGOM MEETINGS — JUNE 11

The meetings on the election of the new CTGOMs were resumed with a meeting with Dr. Osvaldo, head of the monitoring and control department. Of the 14 municipalities, only 5 held the election forums, while 9 are awaiting the position of the vice-governor.

TRAINING ON PREPARING DOCUMENTS — JUNE 12

To conclude, a training session was held on planning and reporting. The CTGOMs presented a quarterly report on their activities, revealing the need for monthly planning and reporting to be shared with the municipal authorities.

These actions are essential to promote the autonomy and effectiveness of the CTGOMs, strengthening participatory governance and community development in Malanje.
