PASCAL presents the winning consortium of the grant in Luanda

On Wednesday, June 5, PASCAL presented AMC and AJACOM, the consortium that won the grant, in an official ceremony held at the Irmãs Paulinas auditorium, in Vila Alice, Luanda.

The initiative, called “Action for the Promotion of the Participation of Women and Young People in the Country’s Public and Political Life”, has as its main objective to foster a more active and effective participation of civil society, especially of underrepresented groups such as women and young people, in decision-making through participatory governance platforms at the local level.

The project, funded by the European Union, was officially launched at a ceremony attended by several members of society, including the PASCAL team, representatives of the local administration, religious leaders, political leaders, journalists, businesspeople from various sectors, women , young people and other interested parties.

During the event, Ugné Chmeliauskaite, PASCAL manager in Lithuania, highlighted that the initiative aims to support civil society and local administration in Angola. He also highlighted that the actions developed by the consortium that won the grant are priorities for the European Union, emphasizing the commitment to strengthening citizen participation.

Filipe Ndofula, Executive Director of AMC and Coordinator of the consortium, announced that the project financing is budgeted at 40 thousand euros, with an expected duration of twelve months. The goal is to positively impact the lives of young people and women, especially in remote communities in the selected areas of Luanda, Cazenga, Talatona and Viana.

Hermenegildo Manuel, President of AJACOM, highlighted the importance of informing and empowering young people and women about participating in the country’s public life. He stressed that participation is not limited to criticism, but involves presenting proposals and solutions to improve communities.

The project “Action for the Promotion of the Participation of Women and Youth in the Country’s Public and Political Life” is a pilot initiative that opens up new opportunities for support for civil society organizations in Angola. This action promotes active citizenship among women and young people, representing an important step towards building a more inclusive and participatory society.
