PASCAL Focal Point promotes training and strategic meetings in Huambo

Encontro da Ponto Focal com investigadores da Faculdade de Economia

PASCAL’s Focal Point in Huambo, Maria de Lassalete, has carried out three crucial activities over the past two weeks, focused on strengthening local capacities and promoting the autonomy of Residents’ Councils (CTGOM).

During a productive meeting with Pires Feliciano, Provincial Director of GEPE, Maria de Lassalete discussed the process of creating the CTGOM and the allocation of resources from the municipal budget. The director challenged Ponto Focal to organize a provincial meeting with the 11 CTGOMs in the province to exchange experiences and train Municipal Administrators, facilitating the autonomy of the CTGOMs. In addition, GEPE technicians were made available to support the project’s training activities.

In a second meeting, Maria de Lassalete met with researchers from the Faculty of Economics, who requested information on the progress of the project and support for contacts in the municipalities. The researchers began their work, with completion scheduled for September.

Finally, Ponto Focal held a meeting with the section chief to monitor the Residents’ Committees of the Legal Office of the Municipal Administration of Catchiungo. The objective was to prepare the work with the Residents’ Committees, obtaining information on the number of active Committees and Councils, which will be included in the training groups.

These activities are essential to strengthen local governance and promote citizen participation, fundamental pillars of PASCAL.
