Increasing the female voice: Commitment to women’s inclusion and participation in Cachiungo

Huambo semana 3 (3)
One of PASCAL’s main objectives is to promote social inclusion and strengthen participatory governance in Angola.

Recognizing the importance of women’s representation, PASCAL’s Focal Point in Huambo, Maria de Lassalete, met with the municipal directors of Social Action of Cachiungo, Mrs. Mandele Viti, and Bailundo, Mrs. Julieta Dumbo, to outline strategies aimed at increasing women’s participation in public decision-making spaces.

After the meeting, Maria de Lassalete held a session with women from the municipality of Cachiungo, with the support of Ms. Mandele Viti, on the theme of “Women’s Participation in Local Governance.” The event brought together 22 women and the president of the Municipal Youth Council, providing a space for essential discussion on issues such as unemployment, sexual and reproductive health, and the importance of a gender-sensitive State Budget.

These actions reinforce our commitment to empowering women and young people, promoting more inclusive and representative local governance that reflects the needs and aspirations of their communities. By engaging local leaders and members of civil society, we seek to build a solid foundation for strengthening citizen participation and the inclusion of all Angolan citizens, especially women.
