Event brings together leaders to assess progress and outline strategies to strengthen participatory governance.
The III Coordination Meeting with the Focal Points of PASCAL – a project funded by the European Union – began today at the Luso Hotel in Benguela, bringing together 16 participants, including representatives from the Ministry of Territorial Administration, the Benguela provincial government, and specialists from the JMJ and Plurália training teams. The main aim of this event, which will run until August 16, is to share innovative and critical approaches in the training-action process, with a view to increasing citizen participation in local governance.
During the three-day meeting, participants will reflect on the lessons learned and challenges faced in the pilot municipalities where PASCAL has worked to improve the quality of participatory governance. Detailed analyses of the Focal Points’ activity plans will be presented, as well as a comprehensive review of the project’s monitoring and evaluation system, with a focus on disaggregating indicators that measure the impact of actions on target groups.
Another highlight will be the discussion on data collection systems and the evaluation of activity reports, allowing for strategic alignment with the project’s objectives. This meeting will also promote moments of team building, reinforcing the spirit of collaboration among the participants and preparing them for the challenges ahead.
The closing ceremony is scheduled for August 16, where the results of the ROM (Result Oriented Monitoring) evaluation and the activity plans by component will be presented, defining the next stages of the project.
This meeting is a crucial opportunity to strengthen participatory governance practices and ensure that citizens have an active voice in local public management. Effective coordination between the Focal Points and the teams of trainers is essential for the continued success of PASCAL, whose impact is already being felt in several provinces across the country.
