Angola-EU Partnership Paves the Way for the Development of the Lobito Corridor.
The Lobito Corridor was at the center of a strategic consultation promoted by the European Union (EU) in the province of Benguela. Representatives from the European Commission’s Directorate General for International Partnerships, the EU Delegation in Luanda and the EU-funded PASCAL Project met with public and private entities and various sectors of society to hear challenges, expectations and perspectives on the impact of this initiative.
As part of the strategic partnership “Caminho Conjunto”, the project aims to diversify the Angolan economy in a sustainable and inclusive way, creating jobs for young people and strengthening local infrastructure.
During the visit, the delegation, which included PASCAL, participated in meetings with the Provincial Governor of Benguela, the municipal administrator of Lobito and entities such as the Port of Lobito, the Benguela Railways and the Lobito Atlantic Railway consortium. The quality of investments and the involvement of the European private sector were highlighted as promising pillars for regional growth.
This consultation reflects the European Union’s long-standing and ongoing commitment to supporting Angola’s economic development, now with a special focus on the Lobito Corridor as a priority project. This dialogue provided valuable insights that will contribute to the sustainable progress of the region and the country.
