PASCAL moves forward with free registration of minors and issuing of identity cards in Huambo

Ponto Focal Huambo Julho

PASCAL’s Focal Point in Huambo, Maria de Lassalete, met with the consortium’s Organizations to align the next steps of the ongoing plan. ASDDA (Action for Solidarity, Democracy and Development in Angola) is now beginning the phase of free registration of minors and issuing of identity cards in the five intervention municipalities.

This action aims to reach the most remote areas, where these essential services are not available, and is being carried out in partnership with the justice services.

As a result of their activities, the Residents’ Committees of the Bailundo Commune Headquarters were trained in Participatory Governance. During the event, which was attended by the Director of the Legal Office of the Bailundo Municipal Administration, a detailed diagnosis was made of the work of these Committees in their communities, with a view to improving and increasing efficiency.

Maria de Lassalete also worked with the secretary of the CAC of the Chiumbo commune, where she found a very young group with limited knowledge of the laws that regulate these spaces and other areas of limitation.

In addition, the focal point participated in the first Ordinary CAC of Catchiungo. The session was chaired by the Deputy Administrator for Technical Services and was attended by three dozen participants, including only 6 women, highlighting the need for greater female inclusion in these spaces.

These initiatives reflect PASCAL’s ongoing commitment to promoting citizen participation, good governance and sustainable development in Angola, through capacity building and strengthening local structures.
