Women’s empowerment in focus in Huambo: Open Government Training.
On 21 August 2024, Maria de Lassalete, PASCAL Focal Point (a project funded by the European Union) in Huambo, led a training session on Open Government in Catchiungo.
The training was notable for the remarkable involvement of women, marking significant progress in female inclusion. Of the 32 participants, 10 were women, a substantially higher participation compared to previous sessions, where the average was only three women with limited participation.
During the event, women not only attended in large numbers but also took leadership roles in group discussions. This session generated productive discussions on adapting open governance practices to local realities, highlighting the growing impact of women in local policymaking. The active involvement of women was a positive step towards strengthening women’s empowerment within the local governance structure in Catchiungo.
