In a productive meeting on August 29, Gabriel Romeu, Focal Point of PASCAL – a project funded by the European Union, met with the Municipal Administrator of Cubal and the Secretary General to discuss and advance issues of civic participation and social inclusion.

The meeting focused on how to transform concerns raised by civil society into concrete actions, especially regarding the inclusion of young people and women in public spaces and decision-making processes.

During the session with the Municipal Administrator, strategies were discussed for the effective implementation of upcoming actions, including the capacity building of the Community Listening Councils (CACs), with a view to improving local governance and ensuring that community voices are heard and considered.

The conversation with the Secretary General focused on the importance of holding regular CACs in a timely manner, as stipulated by MAT Official Letter No. 160/19, reinforcing the municipality’s commitment to transparency and administrative regularity.

These dialogues are vital steps towards strengthening the governance structure in Cubal, promoting more active and inclusive citizen participation in decision-making processes and sustainable local development.
